FS&G Name New Poker League…

In some non-WSOP related news, the newly minted Federated Sports and Gaming (FS&G) has branded its new professional poker leaguedrum roll pleaseEpic Poker League. Their slogan was not announced, but that name definitely lends itself to Dudeits epic.

Jeffrey Grosman, chief operating officer of FS+G, said This is no ordinary tournament league. Our fields will be some of the toughest in poker history and we expect the competition to be nothing less than epic. I

Absolute Poker to File for Bankruptcy

While this is far from confirmed, according to an E-Mail first produced by the website HoldemPokerChat.com, and later picked up by MSNBC.com, the Cereus Poker Network of Absolute Poker and UB Poker will be filing for bankruptcy protection in Norway.

Apparently the parent company of the sites is known as Madeira Fjord (located in Norway), which represents the shareholders of Absolute Poker’s parent company Blanca Gaming, and in an alleged E-Mail posted at Holdem Poker Chat the following was sent to shareholders:

Dear Madeira Fjord, AS Shareholder,

Since the last meeting of shareholders, there have been a number of developments that affect our Company.

Most importantly, Blanca Gaming has provided notice to our subsidiary Avoine that it is currently unable to make any payments toward its debt obligations. A

When Black Friday (April 15th) struck the online poker community, few people could have envisioned just how far the Full Tilt Poker aspect of the story would go. But here we are in September, and lots of mainstream news outlets are starting to pick up on the FTP mess ever since the company was labeled a Ponzi scheme by the New York US Attorneys Office.

What does the future hold for US poker?

When the Black Friday events kicked in, everybody that was related to the online poker industry was in complete and utter chaos for a while. For those of you who still arent aware of what went down on Black Friday, its all about a coordinated attack on a group of several large online poker companies that were performing illegal activities. The FBI, along with other government agencies from the United States, seized the domain names for Poker Stars, Full Tilt Poker and the Ultimate Bet poker network, and arrested several key members of these companies board of directors, in what was the largest sting in online poker history. Everybody who was involved in online poker or online gaming was shaken just a few short months ago, when the Black Friday events unfolded.
