Chad Brown in Cancer Struggle
This week’s potpourri of news stories wraps up with a tale of some concern, after Vanessa Rousso released word via Twitter that her hubby, fellow poker pro Chad Brown, had just undergone surgery to remove a large cancerous tumor from his abdomen. The tumor, a sarcoma (which tends to grow in connective tissues) weighed a massive ten pounds when removed. In case you’re wondering, that’s the size of a largish canned ham, as told to me by someone whose daughter once had a similar-sized growth removed.
Brown’s prognosis is mixed, and with the “I am not a doctor though I have had some medical studies” aside thus proclaimed, his future almost certainly depends on whether the cancer has metastasized into other areas. Let’s all send our wishes and thoughts out to Brown, a generally good guy and a poker-circuit fixture who is far too young to have to deal with this stuff. Brown, the former actor known for his prominent chin, will face a lengthy recovery even under the best of prognoses. The pair, Brown and Rousso, are among the pros with the longest continuing sponsorship deals with online giant PokerStars, attesting to their skills and popularity.
There’s very little “news” to report in such circumstances; all we can do is wait and see and hope and pray for the best.
