Florida Voters Weigh In On Casinos
Most voters in the U.S. state of Florida believe that allowing non-tribal casinos as www.casinobonushere.com would be good for the economy. A small majority supports allowing casinos like www.onlinecasinoclub.de. This is according to a recent poll by the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.
Though the state of Florida has had tribal casinos in a few areas for some time, there has recently been a push to add other casinos. In the poll, in which over 1400 registered voters were questioned between January 4 and January 8, the voters were asked about the possibility of bringing “non-Indian casinos similar to those in Atlantic City and Las Vegas” to the state. Of the respondents, 61% said that bringing the casinos to the state would be “good for Florida’s economy.” Only 33% said that it would not have a positive impact on the economy.
Although almost 2/3 of the respondents believed that the casinos would be good for the economy, many of those people do not want the casinos to be legalized. A slim majority of only 48% support bringing the casinos to Florida, with 43% of respondents opposing the idea. That means that approximately 13% of the respondents think that the casinos would be good for the economy, but don’t want them anyway. Similarly, in a separate set of questions about their approval of Governor Rick Scott, most voters said they agreed with his decision to cut the budget rather than raise taxes, though they disagreed with all of his budget cuts.
Though 43% of Floridians don’t want Vegas-style casinos in the state, only half of them object on a moral basis. The poll found that 73% of voters do not think that gambling is morally wrong, while 22% do. Yesterday a state Senate committee narrowly passed a bill that would allow destination resort casinos in Florida, but the bill still has a long way to go before it becomes law (if it does).
